For this child I prayed........ and the Lord hath given me that which I asked of him.

Raegan says Momma..... well maybe.

Raegan said something that sounded like Momma today. She still hasn't made the connection but thats okay. This is so exciting! She did it once when I picked her up today but then she did it a few more times once we got home.

This will be a busy week with appointments, meetings, and parent conferences. The countdown is on though. Just 8 more weeks until we're out of school for summer vacation. We can't wait.

I'm Gonna Miss This

I feel like that new song by Trace Adkins says it all. I'm really gonna miss these days. It seems like these days with Raegan are just flying by and I am trying to take it all in. I know I will never get these days back with her and I am just trying to hold on to every moment. It seems that we get so caught up in the hustle and bustle of life that we actually let it (life) pass us by. It is human nature to look forward to tomorrow but it is so important that we treasure today. I love you sweet baby and I am so proud to be your momma.

Yeah!

My sweet baby has learned to stand on her own. Yesterday she stood up while talking to her Daddy on the phone. She loves to talk on the phone! Well be talked to.....sometimes she will say "hi". She has gone from Da Da to Dad deeeee and Scott just lights up when she does it, grinning from ear to ear. It is so sweet but he keeps rubbing it in. Anyways, I thought the standing up was a fluke but she has been standing up today for even longer periods of time and bending down to pick up toys and then standing back up again! Great Job Baby..... We are so proud of you.

Gotta take a minute to give kudos to my friend Jenn and the LCHS Robotics Team. They won the Peachtree Regional Competition and the animation award. They will compete in the national competition in Atlanta, Ga in April and I wish them the best of luck.

Please say a special prayer for a co-worker of mine.

A fellow teacher has recently been diagnosed with Lymphoma after having a lymphnode removed from her neck over Spring Break. She just received the news yesterday and the prognosis is good as they look for it to be treatable with chemotheraphy and possibly even curable. The surgery has been considered a success but they were unable to remove all of the tumor due to a nerve connected to her vocal cords. They have also found an additional spot on her lung and they suspect that it is the same type of cancer. Please pray for her and her family.

Another teacher lost her father over the break and two of my students suffered losses as well. One of my girls lost her father to a car accident on Hwy. 53 and the other student lost his younger brother and cousin in an accidental drowning.

My heart goes out to these individuals and I hope they will find peace and comfort during these difficult times.

The Pitter-Patter of Little Feet......Oh how sweet!

I was in Franklin today and I had Raegan fitted for some Stride-Rite shoes. Her feet are so tiny but they're fat! She is taking steps now and I thought it would be best to have shoes that actually fit her feet the way they are supposed to. The salesman was suprised at her because she is 8 1/2 months and trying to walk. He had her stand up and step to him. She stood by herself but then I had to let her hold my finger to walk to him b/c she didn't know him. He measured her feet and said that they don't carry hard soled walkers in her size.......so we ended up with high top pre-walkers in size 2 which is usually for 3-6 month olds. She should be wearing size 4 according to her age and height but the size 2's are about a thumb width too big.

I passed!

I passed the MAT for Grad school and I will be starting Tennessee Tech this summer. I should be finished with my Master's degree by next fall. It was so exciting just registering for my classes. This opportunity is an answer to my prayers and I am looking forward to all the doors it will open for me and the endless possibilites it will offer my career.

On a more important note I enjoyed a beautiful day in the park with my sweet baby and my husband. She is such a blessing to us. This was her first time in the park and we got some great pictures of her in the flowers. Hope you enjoy!

Enjoying a week with Raegan!

I have realized that I am over-the-top, head over heals in love with my little girl. I only wish I could rewind time and enjoy some of her baby moments all over again. She has gotten to the clingy point which can drive me crazy sometimes but then again it is so sweet and it melts my heart when mommy is all she needs.

Yesterday was busy for us and a special thanks goes out to grandaddy for all his help.

Today I cleaned house and did laundry.......I'm not finished yet. Actually I don't think it ever ends!!! For me the balance between home, family, and work is never really balanced at all, with home always taking a backseat to the rest. Hopefully this week give me more time and the motivation to get organized a little better.

Spring Break is Finally Here!

I am so glad to see the break. We needed the time off. I have been so exhausted and have been catching up on some much needed R&R. Raegan is much better from teething but now she is battling a cough and congestion. Allergies and change in weather, I suspect.

I have to take a test for college next week and I am really nervous about it. Other than that I don't have any plans other than to enjoy the week off with my sweet pea. Speaking of....She stood up in my bed today and she didn't fall. She's too little to be doing that! I can't believe they grow so fast. I am constantly in amazement at the things she is doing. The other day she told her grandmother "hi" on the phone. She has been babbling it for sometime but she has actually made the connection between the word and the phone this time. Wow.

Tears, Tears, and More Tears

The weekend was filled with many tears and much whining from the little one. Well today.... we know why. She has another tooth. Thank goodness its not really something wrong. She has cried her little eyes out though. I know this sounds crazy..... all babies cry, right? Raegan is one of the happiest babies I've ever seen and there has to be something really wrong for her to be that upset. I am reluctant to just blame a lot of crying on not feeling well though. It seems to be an all too common cliche' that some people use over and over to justify their children's misbehavior. Their either tired or not feeling well. Just a pet peeve I guess.

I am looking forward to Spring Break but that makes for a hectic week at school. I can't wait though. I hate daylight savings time but it has its perks because summer's just around the corner with longer days and lots of sunshine. :)

We got some snow!

Well we got a little snow. Patty you would laugh at how much we got since you are so used to this kind of weather. We were excited though! Sorry .... no pictures.

We had a very productive but tiring weekend. We worked upstairs painting, cleaning, and putting up lights and outlets. We are almost finished with the bathroom. We should definitely be done with it by next weekend. Then there's still doors to paint, furniture to move, and of course the dredded handrail installation. I would love to get it all done by the end of my Spring Break but I know that is being way to ambitious. I've always heard that the projects never end when you have your own house and I agree.

Wishing for snow.

The weather forecast is calling for anywhere from 1 to 4 inches of snow. Yay! I would love to be snowed in all weekend with my hubby and baby girl. We are finishing little projects around the house that we started 3 yrs. ago when we moved in. Now that our little one is climbing on everything, we badly need to put up a handrail on the stairs. We call her our "little monkey" because she literally crawls on top of every box and tub in the house. She cruises the fireplace hearth and climbs on Macey's pet taxi. It makes me sooooooo nervous.

On another note we found out that our little niece has to have tubes put in her ears for recurring ear infections. This makes me sad as I can relate b/c I have had so many ear surgeries myself. I know that the tubes will help her though and that it will be the best for her. They also have improved the surgeries so that it is not as difficult to recover from which will be good since she'll only be 1 in 2 weeks.

Happy 21st B'day Little Brother!

Today my baby brother turned 21! We had family over for dinner to celebrate. It was great to have everybody together and enjoy spending time together. Raegan was in rare form, laughing and giggling so sweetly to the point that she squeeled. She turned eight months today and she celebrated w/ Uncle Alex. He blew out the candles and she dug into the cake. We tried to keep her out of it but I think she got a little taste anyways : )

Enjoying a beautiful weekend!

The weather has been so beautiful this weekend. I welcome it since we were out of school for snow last week and then we are supposed to have colder weather next week. It was 75 degrees today! I can't wait until summer. I am looking forward to Raegan's first trip to the beach. What will she think about all that sand? Will she like the ocean? I bet she will love the birds. Wow! Vacation will be here before we know it and then she will be a year old. Time is really flying.

Sometimes I take a step back and look at my family and realize how wonderful it is to have so many special people in my life. I am blessed with a wonderful husband who is the love of my life and then of course Raegan who is my very own little piece of heaven, but there are others in my life........ My grandmother is the strongest person I know both literally and figuratively. She takes such good care of my grandaddy. He is still having a rough time and she continues to coach him through despite the tribulations that come their way. Grandaddy is so in love with Raegan but then again he always was with me. We are his girls! He looks forward to our daily conversations and weekly visits and he says that's what keeps him going. My baby brother is not my baby anymore. He'll be 21 on Wednesday. He's always seemed like my child and my brother in one. He is loving being an uncle! My mom has come a long way to, working two jobs to keep up and establish herself again. She calls Raegan her favorite granddaughter which is what my grandaddy always calls me since I'm the only one. As most little girls are...... I am a daddy's girl. I am so happy that he has a new love in his life. Patty is a wonderful woman and he deserves to spend the rest of his life being happy with her. My in-laws also referred to as the babysitters are in charge of docking Raegan's pay when she's late to work. They are so great with her and she is learning so much by staying with them and not being in daycare. They deserve kudos for keeping my little one so I can have the best of both worlds..... be a mommy and a teacher. I am forever grateful for their sacrifice. Last but not least are the two little men in my life and their little sister Sophie. Tyler and Jacob are growing up fast. It seems like only yesterday they were crawling around sticking their little fingers under the bathroom door and crying because I just couldn't get done fast enough. I remember when Jacob told his momma that he was staying home on vacation if Uncle Scotty and Aunt Amy weren't coming. Sheri said they wouldn't hardly go to sleep that night and then they woke us up at 5:30 the next morning, so excited that we had finally gotten there. Sheri and Bart have done a good job with the boys and now they have a beautiful little girl to love. She will be one on the first day of spring.
