Pigtails!

Mom is doing well.

With all that has been going on we decided to take Raegan for a well-deserved dip in the pool. She just loves water! We were at the hospital practically all day yesterday and today with mom. She is still in ICU recovering from surgery but doing well. The medicine is helping her rest and she doesn't complain very much about the pain. Dr. Roberts said the surgery went as expected with no major complications. However, she still has 70% narrowing in one of the veins that is lower in the leg. He felt that it would be best to repair it later with all that the surgery entailed and given all that she had already been through. She is expected to be in ICU a few more days and then go to a regular room the first of the week.

Say a little prayer for my momma.

Mom is having a femoral artery bypass from the aorta tomorrow. They are expecting it to take 5 or 6 hours to do the surgery and then she will be in the hospital for about a week. Please pray that all goes well for her and that she is well taken care of. She has come so far and improved her life drastically from where she was just 3 years ago. I hope she continues to be strong and knows that her family loves her and we are with her all the way. I love you mom.

Good News!

Raegan is much better but we have used almost an entire tube of hydrocortizone cream in just 2 days. I hope it will eventually clear it all up. I went shopping with Mom to get Raegan's birthday gift. I know it is still a ways off but I noticed the chair we were getting her went on sale this week. We will have mom's surgery and then vacation and then her b'day soon after. With all of that going on we won't have much time to shop.We still have one more gift to get her but it can wait. We didn't like the chair that I had originally picked out because it wasn't the quality that we were expecting so we opted for another one and it was also on sale. I wish you could have seen Raegan! She was fantastic! We got four for her to try out and she picked this one. Then she just couldn't wait to get in it again. We let her show it off to daddy when we got home and she was so excited. It was like she couldn't stop smiling; she was so happy. She is soooooo easy to please. May she always be this way. I am trying to instill in her pretty is as pretty does.

Happy Memorial Day!

This weekend was spent with family and friends. We ate some great food! The weather was warm and pleasant every day but today. It rained which made swimming and eating outdoors a little inconvenient. I know.....it should be fun to swim in the rain but it was a little stormy and windy.

Raegan is absolutely going all over the place. I'm finding that I should just dress her in play clothes from now on because she likes to sit on the ground and play in the dirt. We are battling eczema on her stomach and back again . If you have any treatments that have worked please let me know. We are desperate. We have lathered her in hydrocortizone cream and if she's not better by tomorrow then I will call the doctor. That's just it though the condition will come and go so fast that sometimes by the time you get to the office it has cleared up significantly. She gave us a prescription cream last time but it didn't phase it. It just goes and comes but sometimes it lasts for days before it goes away.

Mom is stressed about her surgery and we are all worried about a lot that it involves. I can only be faithful and give it to God because I know it is too much for anyone to handle alone. She really has a lot on her plate right now. Please pray for her.

We are so busy!

With only three days left of school, we have been so busy. Exams start tomorrow and then we have a half day of school on Friday. I am so siked about spending the summer with my baby girl. She is so much fun at this age but I have to say that she is already hard to keep up with. We can pretty much say that she is walking exclusively. She still falls some but she has made so much progress in the last few days. I said today that it is bittersweet because watching her grow is amazing but it seems like she is growing too fast.

Mom had a surgical procedure yesterday and the findings were worse than anticipated. She will have more appointments and tests run this week to prepare for a major operation on May 30th. Please pray that the operation is successful and so is her recovery. I am also hoping that things with her job will go smoothly as there is some concern about the time that she has already taken off and the possibility of losing her job or worse her insurance coverage. She will have a femoral artery bypass from her aorta which is a tedious surgery and she is expected to be hospitalized for about a week.

Grandaddy had eye surgery today and everything went well. His vision will be blurry due to the swelling but should be much better in a couple of days. They expect to do the other eye in a few weeks when this one has had more time to recoup. It seems like the doctor would have done them both at the same time but he said he wouldn't be able to see at all for a few days if he did that. It will be hard enough for him to get around with one eye much less both impaired.

Scott and I are so ready to feel the sand between our toes. We have always loved vacation and this year it will be so rewarding to take our daughter with us. Tonight as I got Raegan ready for bed we were playing with her and I asked him if he thought this is what we would be doing eight years ago when we first met. We both laughed and said we wouldn't change it for the world. We are just in awe at where we are in life now and the journey that has led us to this point. God is good.

We had a visitor this weekend......

We were getting ready to leave this afternoon to go to my dad's house to celebrate my Grandaddy's b'day and we found a snapping turtle in the yard. Scott took pics so we could show Tyler and Jacob. We also got to visit with some of my Grandaddy's relatives from Arizona. It was nice to see them.

Then we went to his sister's house and visited. Sophie was already asleep but Raegan just had to see her. j/k She was crying because she was hungry and it woke Sophie up so they got to play anyways. It was great to visit with the boys but they haven't gotten used to the fact that we have to take care of Raegan too. At one point Jacob said to me. "Awwww Aunt Amy just leave Raegan in here and come play with me.... Momma and Daddy will watch her." I couldn't help but laugh. I realize its hard so we are planning on leaving Raegan one day and just taking the boys so that we can spend one on one time with them. Tyler curled up next to me on the couch for the longest. It was like old times....just with more kids and less lap. It was sweet to watch the girls playing. They are both walking so well. Sophie is such a big girl now. I can't believe how much she has grown in such a short time. And that hair. Wow! It is beautiful!

Happy Anniversary to my grandparents!

These two people share the most beautiful, loving relationship in the world. They deserve the utmost praise for setting such a wonderful example of how marriage should be. I am so proud that I have been able to witness the love and commitment that they share. I am eager to follow in their footsteps and celebrate 53 years one day with my own best friend and husband.

My Grandaddy will celebrate his 74th Birthday on Friday and I thank God for allowing us the privilege of celebrating yet another year of his life. Aging has been tough on him but he is playing the cards that he has been dealt well and I commend him for persevering through the pain that he deals with on a daily basis just to make it one more day. However, I know that God has plans for him and I am thankful that he has blessed me with so many days with them. They have loved me and cared for me in ways that most grandparents never get the chance to experience. I just can't find the words to express my true gratitude for them. They are wonderful people and I am glad that my sweet Raegan is getting to know them. They are so proud and excited to be great-grandparents.

Happy Mother's Day!

Thank you to all who made my first Mother's Day extra special. Thanks to my Daddy and Grandaddy for the phone calls this morning. Thanks to my in-laws and my grandparents for the special cards that warmed my heart. Thank you for the treat to lunch. :) Patty, thanks for the card and your wonderful friendship. Especially thanks to my husband and my daughter who are truly my best friends, without the two of you I wouldn't have a reason to celebrate.

Thank you God for choosing me.

Motherhood.....its what life is all about.

As I play with my little one and hear her beautiful laughter I try to remember what life was like before her. I can't! I am reminded what a beautiful gift she is. She's my little miracle. My very own little piece of Heaven. I am so in love with her. I looked at Scott today and asked him where the time went. I don't want her to be a year old..... and she will be in less than 2 months. I said to him, " Can you believe she grew in my belly." Its hard to believe that now she can walk, talk, and feed herself. She has new found independence and just months ago she was a helpless infant. Now she's my little girl. Boy the teenage years are going to be rough if I am struggling with her growing up now! I've always heard that girls are harder than boys. If thats really true then I don't know what people complain about. She has been such an easy baby and so much fun. I think we are learning just as much from her as she is from us. I am reminded that family is so important and that we shouldn't sweat the small stuff.

Happy Mother's Day to all!

Fun in the SUN!

We worked really hard in the yard and Raegan was a trooper. She loves water so we decided to buy her a kiddie swimming pool. She had a blast but didn't want to get out when it was time. Gotta love those sweet curls.

A weekend of great eats!

We went to Bridge Street and had the most fabulous dinner at Dolce yesterday. Mmmm Mmmmm. We shopped a little bit. Today, we attempted to go to Jacob's make up game for a rain out and it was cancelled due to weather. We have tried to go to 4 or 5 but due to cancellations and scheduling conflicts we have only made it to one. We went to Bell Buckle to eat at the cafe. It was pretty good but not as good as we had remembered it. Then we walked around looking in all the little shops. We saw the train twice but it scared Raegan. Tomorrow we will do laundry and cut the grass..... the usual. Scott is planning on going hunting. :( I think he would hunt rocks if there were a season for them.

Congratulations to Jack and Julia on the news that they are expecting. This has been a long time coming and we are so proud for them. I hope little Jack gets a sister.
My little doll just couldn't take it any longer. This is the first time she has fallen asleep in her highchair. Awwwwww!
